NEW YORK CHAPTER: About

Founded: May 1995

The New York City Chapter provides its members with extensive networking opportunities, not only allowing composers to benefit from their collective experiences but opening new doors for cross-disciplinary collaborations. The chapter's Community Partners projects are as diverse as the city's residents. They have included explorations of American Indian poetry and Eastern European music, a residency with a homeless shelter, school residencies, and numerous community celebrations. Members' works have been the focus of performances at Steinway Hall, Greenwich House, Roulette, and The Kitchen. New York composers also benefit from the Forum's Jerome Composers Commissioning Program, which annually funds commissions for emerging composers.
