NEW YORK CHAPTER: About Founded: May 1995 The New York City
Chapter provides its members with extensive networking opportunities,
not only allowing composers to benefit from their collective experiences
but opening new doors for cross-disciplinary collaborations. The chapter's
Community Partners projects are as diverse as the city's residents.
They have included explorations of American Indian poetry and Eastern
European music, a residency with a homeless shelter, school residencies,
and numerous community celebrations. Members' works have been the
focus of performances at Steinway Hall, Greenwich House, Roulette,
and The Kitchen. New York composers also benefit from the Forum's
Jerome Composers Commissioning
Program, which annually funds commissions for emerging
composers.
