WASHINGTON, D.C. CHAPTER: About

Founded: July 1997

Committed to working with diverse communities in the D.C.-metropolitan area, the chapter puts a special emphasis on developing projects with working class neighborhoods. Through the Community Partners Program, the chapter is continually connecting composers with neighborhood revitalization efforts. It has also gained exposure from NPR's All Things Considered and the Washington Post for its educational residencies, which serve schools with under-funded music programs. The chapter's monthly meetings provide a forum for composers and performers to present and discuss their work as well as a means to network.
