The 11-minute video was culled from more than 14 hours of footage, and is being used to inspire continued public participation in this groundbreaking program. With
support from the MacArthur
Foundation,
the program brought in eight composers to work with the institute in
Chicagos underserved North Lawndale community. As part of institute
projects supporting school-aged children, pregnant and parenting teens,
parents struggling with addiction, high-risk adolescents, and families
with special requirements, the composers worked with community members
to write new works. CHICAGO AREA PARKS TO HOST CONCERT SERIES (MAY 2003) The chapter and the Chicago Park District are currently planning a concert series to be held in area parks between May and July 2004.
