ATLANTA CHAPTER: About

Founded: May 1998

The Forum's primary presence in the Southeast, the Atlanta Chapter brings to the region unprecedented opportunities for the creation and performance of new music. It administers the Faith Partners Program throughout the region, linking 12 composers with 36 congregations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. Through the Community Partners Program, composers in Atlanta have collaborated with a wonderfully diverse group of organizations, including a middle school string orchestra, a 12-step drug rehabilitation program for teenagers, and a science and technology museum. The chapter has also initiated the Composer in the Schools residency program in the city, giving high school music students the opportunity to study composition with professional composers. These programs have resulted in more than 80 new works, reaching audiences across the Southeast. The chapter also provides members with new ways to connect with each other through regular meetings and special events.
