Biography:
.Gerald Busby made his debut as a composer with a commission from Paul Taylor for the dance RUNES, which has had a thousand performances around the world since its premiere in Paris and was featured on the PBS television series, Great Performances, Dance in America. Gerald's first film score was for Robert Altman's 3 WOMEN, and his first opera was ORPHEUS IN LOVE with a libretto by Craig Lucas. Gerald has received grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Virgil Thomson Foundation, and the Aaron Copland Foundation. Commissions have come from such diverse sources as the Union Theological Seminary in New York, Speculum Musicae, the West Texas State University Concert Band, the Gregg Smith Singers, and Les Percussions de Strasbourg. Gerald has been a scholar in residence at Bellagio, Italy, and he was a composer in residence at the Dartington International Summer School in the U.K.
