Introduction:
Clara Latham is a New York based composer of acoustic and electro-acoustic chamber music. She is a PhD student at NYU.
Biography:
Clara Latham was born in Eugene, Oregon and started out playing flute and guitar before getting interested in composition. Her music been performed by the Oberlin Contemporary Music Ensemble and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). She earned a bachelor?s degree in composition from Oberlin Conservatory, where she studied composition with Lewis Nielson. At Oberlin she also studied film and in 2003, her short film ?Babes in Toyland? was selected to compete at the Torino Film Festival. As a performer she toured the US with the experimental ensemble The Gongs, whose album was released commercially on American Patchwork. She is currently a PhD candidate in composition and theory at NYU where she studies with Elizabeth Hoffman and Lou Karchin.
