Genre: Concert Music

Introduction:
A Saint Paul native raised in the Baptist Church, a multi-instrumentalist/conductor/Hip Hop Producer. Attended New England Conservatory. Member of St. Paul based HEIRUSPECS.

Biography:
Started life as an instrumentalist. Finally discovered composition in High school, and decided that writing music is the "end all, be all." Most of my great moments as an instrumentalist came as a Bassoonist. I played in both GTCYS & Minnesota Youth Symphonies back in the day. I spent a summer at the Eastern Music Festival down in Greensborough NC, good times. After my time at NEC I was cajoled into moving back to MN to join the band Heiruspecs; a group which was started when we were in High school. Almost ten years later Heiruspecs is still going strong. We've spent the last three and a half years touring the country and having a great time.

I took a break from composition starting in the spring of '02. I came to the conclusion that I needed to figure out what if anything I had to say and how best to convey the music I hear in my head. I'm on the verge of something; certainly not as profound as Sch?enberg, but along those lines. I am excited about the future of Concert music. As long as we don't forget our roots and become too obsessed with technological innovations. When it comes down to it, I'm a roots music kinda guy.

Artist's Statement:
The success I've had with my music has come by fusing the different musics that I love in a new 3rd Stream concoction. Some of my scores throw Classically trained people for a loop, and vice versa for the non-classical people. It's been a combination of Pop/Jazz charting & traditional notation. It's the best thing I've found thus far.
