Genre: classical

Introduction:
Young composer seeking new opportunities and new ensembles to write for and perform my new works.

Biography:
Residing in Vermilion, Ohio, Aaron Carman is a composer of both choral and instrumental music. Aaron's choral compositions have been performed by the San Antonio Chamber Choir, and his instrumental music has appeared at the Oregon Bach Festival Composers' Symposium and reading sessions by Madeleine Shapiro and the Cleveland State University. Aaron is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Composition at Cleveland State University, studying with Andrew Rindfleisch. He earned a B.S. in Music with a concentration in Music Composition from the University of Indianapolis, studying composition with Christopher Rutkowski.

Artist's Statement:
New music is an interesting concept in 21st century America. In a society that is almost fully geared towards popular music and passive participation, classical music is at a crossroads. As a composer during this crossroads, I feel both a sense of responsibility to carry on the tradition of the great masters, but at the same time, writing music that is both interesting and "new."
