Symeon Waseen

Biography:
Symeon Waseen received his B.M. from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, with a double major in Piano Performance and Theory/Composition, and his M.M. from Bowling Green State University in Composition. He has studied under the tutelage of Thomas Wegren, Marilyn Shrude, Robert Morris, and Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon. In addition to composing, Mr. Waseen is a very active performer, specializing in music by contemporary composers, and has premiered several works written by himself and his colleagues. He has performed at events such as the national SEAMUS conference, Heidelberg New Music Festival, Bowling Green New Music Festival, Western Illinois University New Music Festival, and has recently been awarded the Eastman School of Music "Wayne Brewster Barlow Prize" for his Concerto for Voice and Voices. Symeon is currently a DMA candidate in composition at the Eastman School of Music, and will be teaching at Black Hills State University in the fall of 2010.
