Gary has been playing and writing since February of 1964 when he saw the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan show; he 'borrowed' his Dad's guitar for 6 years. In 1981, upon achieving (arguably) some degree of success in the music business, he began writing seriously for the stage. Mr. Rue has composed somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 pieces of musical theater, many of them for SteppingStone Theatre For Youth Development of St. Paul. Gary and his wife, Prudence Johnson are living happily on Nicollet Island in Minneapolis, Minnesota with their greyhound, Jack.
