Introduction:
Composer from Puerto Rico

Biography:
Manuel Calzada has a Bachelor's degree in percussion from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico where he got the Most Outstanding Student Award of the Year. He has a Master's Degree in Music Composition from U.C.L.A. His works has been performed by the Puerto Rico Symphonic Orchestra, Bronces de Puerto Rico and the Symphonic Orchestra of FOSJA conducted by Maestro Luis Biava. Among others, Manuel Calzada has worked with artists like Lalo Scifirin, Celia Cruz, William Cepeda and many other popular music and jazz musicians. He has also composed incidental music for The Bilingual Foundation of the Arts in Los Angeles and motion pictures in Los Angeles, Miami, Puerto Rico and Atlanta. Calzada has been working for the past few years as a freelance arranger and producer in Puerto Rico and New York.
Currently Manuel Calzada works hard in developing serious music using as a base material the Bomba" rhythms from the coasts of Puerto Rico.
