The call to sing and dance first came to Sidiki Conde in a dream at age 14, after he lost the use of his legs. Music and dance became his transcendence and his vocation.

VSA arts of Minnesota is excited to announce the return to Minnesota of Sidiki Conde, a visiting artist that we first hosted in September and October of 2006 and one of 10 artists to be presented with the National Heritage Award by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2007. This award recognizes American folk artists for their contributions to our national cultural mosaic.

Sidiki, percussionist Balla Kouyate? and Sidiki?s group Tokounou will be featured in a public performance at the Hopkins High School Auditorium on Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. Also performing will be students with and without disabilities from schools within the school districts of Minneapolis, Hopkins and Savage, MN!
